A study led by NARI researchers has been selected as a Silver Award recipient of the 2025 Innovative Research on Aging Awards | Mather Institute. The US-based Mather Institute created the awards to inspire evidence-based practices that improve the lives of older adults. Read more

NARI is proud to announce that Principal Research Fellow Professor Tuan Anh Nguyen has been awarded the prestigious Atlantic Fellowship for Equity in Brain Health and has also been elected Programs Chair of the Health Policy Professional Interest Area Executive Committee within the International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment (ISTAART). NARI is delighted to announce Professor Tracy Comans as its new Director. A UQ Amplify Fellow at the Centre for Health Services Research, University of Queensland, and an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Professor Comans is known for her innovative application of economics in health services, and for developing the prototype for the aged care star ratings system. NARI would like to express its deepest thanks to Professor Briony Dow, whose leadership has shaped NARI’s role in the sector, leading to life-changing translational research projects and consumer-led innovation. NARI is urging Australians to be more aware of how they may unknowingly demonstrate ageism, ahead of the International Day of Older Persons this Sunday, 1 October. “We unfortunately see ageist attitudes across all aspects of our society, and it's often so deeply ingrained we don't necessarily recognise it,” NARI Executive Director, Professor Briony Dow, said.
