Senior Research Fellow

Liz is a Senior Research Fellow within the Aged Care Division of NARI. Liz is a Registered Nurse with over 30-years of experience as an academic teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing courses. Liz has extensive experience in curriculum development and has researched and published in the areas urological and continence nursing, health assessment, clinical education, and health issues for people with acute and chronic illnesses. She has a special clinical interest in the care of people with bladder and bowel problems. Liz is a Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and Secretary, Director, and Board member of the Continence Nurses Society Australia.

Liz is currently working on the development and evaluation of a Massive Online Open Course – Caregiving, Dementia and Incontinence and the IDC-IMPROVE project aimed at improving care of older people in residential care who have a urinary catheter.

Dr Marina Cavuoto

Dr Marina Cavuoto is a Clinical Neuropsychologist specialising in cognition in healthy ageing, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. She is a Senior Research Fellow at NARI. She manages the MINDSET study: Improving Interpreting For Dementia Assessments, and the No More Shame study on Elder abuse prevention.
Associate Professor Tuan Anh Nguyen

A/Prof Tuan Anh Nguyen is a Principal Research Fellow. His current research relates to the development and implementation of national dementia strategies with a focus on low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Amy Parker

Amy is a Senior Policy and Practice Research Fellow within the Clinical Gerontology Division at NARI. With a clinical background in physiotherapy, and significant project management experience in the public health care system, she leads NARI’s program of work for the Victorian Department of Health regarding older people policy.
Associate Professor Frances Batchelor

A/Prof Frances Batchelor is a Principal Research Fellow and Director of the Clinical Gerontology Division. She is also a Research Lead for the Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration. Her PhD was on falls prevention after stroke. Her research interests are falls prevention, balance and gait, healthy ageing, the role of technology in ageing, and health and aged care practice.
Dr Josefine Antoniades

Dr Josefine Antoniades is a Research Fellow in Social Gerontology. Her disciplinary expertise is at the nexus of psychology, public health and primary care. Her research interests include dementia, mental health and health literacy, in particular in underserved and vulnerable communities. Dr Antoniades is the national project manager for Moving Pictures.
Professor Bianca Brijnath

Professor Bianca Brijnath is the Divisional Director of Social Gerontology at the National Ageing Research Institute. Her disciplinary training is in medical anthropology and public health and her research expertise is in cultural diversity, dementia, and mental health. She leads the Moving Pictures study in Australia and India.
Associate Professor Anita Goh

A/Prof Anita Goh (MAPS, FCCN) is a clinician researcher, with expertise in mental health, cognition, ageing, and dementia. Anita is a clinical neuropsychologist and a senior researcher at NARI, and holds honorary roles at The University of Melbourne, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Edith Cowan University.
Professor Joan Ostaszkiewicz

Joan Ostaszkiewicz is the Director of Aged Care Research at the National Ageing Research Institute. She oversees a program of research that aims to improve older people's quality of care and quality of life and to support family and formal caregivers.
Professor Pazit Levinger

Professor Levinger is a Senior Researcher (Accredited Exercise Physiologist) at NARI. She also holds Honorary positions at the Rehabilitation, Ageing and Independent Living (RAIL) Research Centre, Monash University and the Institute for Health and Sport (IHES), Victoria University.
Sue Williams

Sue Williams is a Policy and Practice Fellow (Physiotherapist) with over 30 years of clinical practice and research experience working with older people across hospital, aged care, and community settings. Sue Williams has extensive experience in clinical trials, quantitative and qualitative research.
