The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety released its final report on 26 February 2021, making numerous recommendations for aged care reform in Australia.
Over the coming weeks NARI will release a series of position papers responding to Commission recommendations. The first, Research and Aged Care, provides NARI’s position on the Royal Commission’s recommendations relating to research and aged care, and to stimulate discussion on a way forward for Australian aged care research.
Our positions are evidence-based, drawn from 40 years of research into healthy ageing, clinical care, and health and aged care systems. We believe there is an important role for research to drive best practice reforms in the aged care sector.
NARI also made significant contributions to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, undertaking commissioned research and making several submissions.
Our commissioned research explored integrated models for care, health and housing, as well as national surveys on quality of care for people living in residential care, and home and respite care.
