Director, NARI Board

Kylie Cochrane brings to NARI more than 30 years of communications, engagement, media and marketing experience including 15 years on not for profit and for purpose boards.

Kylie currently chairs the Australian National University’s Advisory Board for the Institute for Infrastructure in Society which oversees the NextGen research into community engagement and social risk. She was the Global Chair of the International Association of Public Participation, the professional association for the engagement industry, from 2017-2022 and she was on the Australasian IAP2 Board from 2011-2021.

Kylie has been a partner at global engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Aurecon for more than a decade. She built Aurecon’s Engagement business from a single person to one of the leading engagement businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2022 Kylie was named one of two inaugural Honorary IAP2 fellows in Australia. She was named a Deloitte Outstanding 50 LGBTI+ leader in 2020. She was the IAP2 Inspirational Engagement Leader in 2019, and the 2018 Consult Australia Female Champion of Change.

Andrew Simpson

Andrew Simpson is a Director on the NARI Board and Chair of the Finance, Audit & Risk Management Committee. He is a CFO, Non-Executive Director, Chair, CPA and MAICD with a long and considerable history of board-level and high-level executive experience in a variety of industries, and in particular in the health and information/data management sectors, as well as deep experience in the for-purpose and community sports sectors.
Professor Geoff McColl

Professor Geoff McColl is an Emeritus Professor and previous Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland (UQ). Prior to joining UQ, Geoff was the Head of the Melbourne Medical School at the University of Melbourne, where he led the development and implementation of the Melbourne MD.
Dr Monica Trujillo

Dr Monica Trujillo is a Director of the NARI Board. Dr Trujillo is Telstra Health’s Chief Health and Risk Officer, combining clinical expertise with digital solutions to address health and aged care challenges. As Australia’s first Chief Medical Information Officer, she has over 20 years’ experience in medicine, executive leadership, and clinical informatics.
Stephen Thomas

Stephen Thomas has been a Director of the NARI Board since late 2023. He brings an extensive range of experience to the board, having worked in the health and care industry for over 30 years across clinical, operational, and executive roles.
Michael Tandora

Michael Tandora became a Director of the NARI Board in May 2023. He has practised as a commercial litigation solicitor since 2004. He is a Special Counsel at the Australian law firm Mills Oakley. He has also worked at international law firms Ashurst, Baker McKenzie and King & Wood Mallesons.
Sue Leitch

Sue is a Deputy Chair of the NARI Board with experience in social and health policy for older people. Her key areas of interest are elder abuse, ageism, social policy to support active ageing and age friendly communities. She is a visual artist working in issues for older women.
Janice Besch

Janice Besch is a Director of the NARI Board. Ms Besch is the Head of the Grants Development Team at Hunter Medical Research Institute. In conjunction with this appointment, which is on a part-time basis, she provides consultancy advice independently and as a Senior Consultant with Outside Opinion.
