Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration

The Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration (MARC) is a unique collaboration of health, research, aged care and advocacy organisations working together to improve the lives of older people.

Our vision is that older people received the best possible care and support through services, programs and policies which support health and optimal quality of life.

Research and New Initiatives

In a complex world, navigating clear pathways through the many health, aged care services and programs can be confusing. Exploring the barriers to, and opportunities for, successful navigation is vital to support informed decision making and enable better care and outcomes. The Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration (MARC) invites you to our 2024 Annual Symposium, where we will hear how research and initiatives including data, design, and pathways can be used to facilitate access to health and aged care services for older people.

You will hear evidence and experiences from the perspectives of consumers, researchers, clinicians and other experts in the field of ageing.

The 10th Annual Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration (MARC) Symposium will be held on Friday 30th of August 2024.

Speakers include:
  • Fiona Armstrong, CEO Liquid Interactive, presenting on the MyAged Care Website
  • Professor Tracy Comans, Director National Ageing Research Institute,  presenting on the Star Ratings for Residential Aged Care
  • Dr Richard Kane and Dr Beth La Brooy, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, presenting on “Geriatrician in the Emergency Department – Navigating Safe Alternatives to Acute Care”
Additional speakers include:
  • Consumer Perspectives from the NARI Community Advisory Panel
  • Carer perspectives from Carers Victoria
  • Experts in Co-design from Deakin University and RMIT
  • Primary Health Network speakers focussing on Service Navigation in the community

The day will conclude with a panel discussion on how MARC as a collaboration of diverse health, aged care, academic and advocacy groups as well as government and other services can help professionals working in health and aged care through rapidly applied evidence to navigate complex systems and pathways.
