Honorary Fellow

Dr Katrin Gerber is a NARI Honorary Fellow. She is an end-of-life researcher with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Melbourne. Since coming to Australia as an international scholarship recipient in 2012, Dr Gerber has taught and researched topics related to ageing, end-of-life care and mental health at the University of Melbourne, the University of Tasmania and Queensland University of Technology.

She is an RMIT Research Fellow with the School of Media and Communication, as well as an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne. In acknowledgement of her work in palliative care, end-of-life decision-making, bereavement support and mental health, she was nominated for a National Palliative Care Award as an emerging researcher in 2019. Her passion for end-of-life research stems from her work as a hospice volunteer and her personal experience as a family caregiver.

Dr Alyson Sweeney

Dr Alyson Sweeney is a Registered Nurse who has specialised in the management of incontinence and care for people with urinary catheters. She is working with NARI as a chief investigator on a MRFF-funded project that aims to improve catheter care in residential aged care homes in Australia.
Nina Bowes

Nina Bowes is Director of Strategy and Innovation at Uniting AgeWell, where she leads enterprise strategy, governance, research and reform initiatives. She has over a decade of experience operating at enterprise level, designing strategy, governance systems and implementation frameworks that enable complex organisational change.
Associate Professor Lucio Naccarella

A/Prof Lucio Naccarella is a leading health systems researcher, evaluator and implementation science educator, with interests in systems change, health system literacy, aged care workforce, care coordination, multidisciplinary primary health care team work, primary care organisations and health workforce reforms, from a policy, research and practice perspective.
Associate Professor Paul Andrew Yates

A/Prof Paul Yates is a geriatrician with Austin Health, Deputy Director of Aged Care Research and Medical Lead for the Residential InReach Program. His clinical and research interests include care of older people at the interface between hospital and community, including residential aged care, and novel approaches to improve outcomes in ageing and dementia.
Alfred Deakin Professor Alison Hutchinson

Professor Alison Hutchinson is the Chair in Nursing at Barwon Health, a Professor in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Deakin University, and Co-Director of the Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research (QPS) in the Institute for Health Transformation at Deakin University.
Associate Professor Catherine Said

Associate Professor Said is the inaugural Associate Professor Physiotherapy, Western Health and The University of Melbourne, and a program director with the Australian Institute of Musculoskeletal Science. Her research focuses on fall prevention and rehabilitation of older people and people with neurological disorders.

Lee-Fay is an Honorary Fellow at NARI and Professor in Ageing and Health at the University of Sydney. She is a psychologist who conducts research into dementia, healthy ageing and aged care, with a particular interest in working with diverse communities.

Professor Sigrid Nakrem is an academic at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She holds a MSc in health sciences and a PhD in public health. Her main research topics are patient safety and quality of care, elder abuse, and eHealth, and has teaching competence in related areas.
