Research Fellow

Dr Katrin Gerber is an end-of-life researcher with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Melbourne. Since coming to Australia as an international scholarship recipient in 2012, Dr Gerber has taught and researched topics related to ageing, end-of-life care and mental health at the University of Melbourne, the University of Tasmania and Queensland University of Technology.

She joined NARI as a research fellow in 2019 and is currently working with a multi-disciplinary team as part of the Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration. She is also an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne. In acknowledgement of her work in palliative care, end-of-life decision-making, bereavement support and mental health, she was nominated for a National Palliative Care Award as an emerging researcher in 2019. Her passion for end-of-life research stems from her work as a hospice volunteer and her personal experience as a family caregiver.
