Current opportunities

At NARI we believe older people's voices should be heard. We conduct rigorous translational research with and for older people. We actively seek ways to involve older people, people living with dementia and those caring for older people, in our research.

Australia wide dementia and trauma research study

We are seeking participants for a study on how past trauma affects people living with dementia or memory and thinking problems, including how it impacts their experiences of care.

We are seeking participants for a study on how past trauma affects people living with dementia or memory and thinking problems, including how it impacts their experiences of care.

We are seeking participants who are:

  • People living with dementia or memory and thinking problems who have experienced trauma
  • People who are (or have been) day-to-day carers of people with dementia or memory and thinking problems who have experienced trauma.

Participants can be from anywhere in Australia. Participation will involve a one-on-one interview (up to 60 minutes long) that can be conducted via video call or in-person*.

*Note: In-person interviews will only be available to those living in Victoria

NARI is recruiting participants for a new eight-week program called Befriending with GENIE. This program aims to reduce loneliness and increase social support by connecting you with a friendly person to talk to and to provide helpful resources.

Calling all Victorians from Chinese backgrounds!

 Are you interested in reducing loneliness and increasing social support?

 We are recruiting participants for a new eight-week program called Befriending with GENIE. This program aims to reduce loneliness and increase social support by connecting you with a friendly person to talk to and to provide helpful resources.

 We are looking for people who live in Victoria, who speak Cantonese or Mandarin, and:

  1. Have thinking or memory problems or a diagnosis of dementia
  2. Care for someone with thinking or memory problems or dementia.
