Get to know us Our research programs NARI is Australia’s leading independent, non-profit medical research institute dedicated to ageing and aged care research. With a focus on translational research – from healthy ageing through to end-of-life care – we aim to improve the health and wellbeing of older people and those who care for them. NARI specialises in accelerating meaningful change in policy and practice. Our research programs are underpinned by effective engagement, meaningful collaboration and purposeful co-design with key stakeholders. We focus on: Research that supports healthy ageing, including preventative and early intervention programs. Research to reduce the prevalence, morbidity and mortality of geriatric syndromes and other specific conditions associated with ageing. Research that improves knowledge, confidence, health and wellbeing and quality of life of paid and unpaid carers. Research that improves health and aged care systems, processes and practices (including evaluations, models of care development, quality improvement, health economics, equity and access, and technology). Research that addresses societal issues associated with ageing (including ageism, elder abuse). Through our emphasis on valuing the voices of older people, and our collaborative approach, NARI’s research creates real-world impact.
