Falls prevention consultancy

Falls are a significant issue in residential aged care, with about 50% of residents falling each year. Falls can result in serious injury and loss of independence, and can have a significant impact on quality of life. In addition, falls can result in increased costs and risks for aged care providers. It is essential that effective falls prevention strategies are in place to reduce the incidence of falls and improve the safety and wellbeing of residents.

Our consultancy provides a service to help residential aged care facilities understand the incidence and nature of falls and injuries, and supports them to develop and implement falls prevention strategies. We work closely with facility management and staff to evaluate the nature and incidence of falls, staff knowledge and confidence in falls prevention, and to review the built environment from the perspective of reducing risk of falls. We provide practical recommendations about falls prevention strategies that are based on each facility’s specific needs and profile and the evidence.
