Vice President and Director, NARI Board

Professor Danny Liew is the Vice President and Director of the NARI Board. Professor Liew is the Dean of Medicine and Head of the Adelaide Medical School at the University of Adelaide. He is also a consultant physician at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in General Medicine. His prior roles were Chair of Clinical Outcomes Research at Monash University (2015-2021) and Chair of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne (2010-2015). His research capacity and interests lie in epidemiology, clinical trials, health services research and health economics. Professor Liew has been a Director of the NARI Board since May 2019.

Michael Tandora

Michael Tandora became a Director of the NARI Board in May 2023. He has practised as a commercial litigation solicitor since 2004. He is a Special Counsel at the Australian law firm Mills Oakley. He has also worked at international law firms Ashurst, Baker McKenzie and King & Wood Mallesons.
Sue Leitch

Sue is a Director on the NARI Board with experience in social and health policy for older people. Her key areas of interest are elder abuse, ageism, social policy to support active ageing and age friendly communities. She is a visual artist working in issues for older women.
Janice Besch

Janice Besch is a Director of the NARI Board. Ms Besch is the Head of the Grants Development Team at Hunter Medical Research Institute. In conjunction with this appointment, which is on a part-time basis, she provides consultancy advice independently and as a Senior Consultant with Outside Opinion.
Associate Professor Michael Murray AM

Associate Professor Michael Murray AM, is the President of the NARI Board, the medical director of Continuing Care and head of Geriatric Medicine at Austin Health, Associate Professor at Melbourne University and Adjunct Associate Professor Australian Centre for Evidence Based Aged Care, La Trobe University.
Richard Gallina

Richard Gallina brings over 15 years of hands-on accounting and leadership experience to his role of Director and Treasurer on the NARI Board. He currently works as the Group Financial Controller at Partners Wealth Group and is a member of Chartered Accounts Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).
Professor Briony Dow

Professor Briony Dow is Director of the National Ageing Research Institute and Honorary Professor at the School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne and Honorary Professor, School of Nursing and Midwifery, Deakin University. Briony leads a range of both aged care and social and clinical gerontology research programs.
