NARI is working with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to understand better what is important to older people in Victoria in relation to their health and wellbeing needs.
“What do older people want from their health care”, is in the early stages of consultation. To date NARI has held four focus groups with volunteer participants discussing many topics from healthy and active ageing to care at the end of life.
Additional focus groups have been organised with community groups across Victoria and will be held during May and early June.
A Facebook page is being set up for the end of May to reach older Victorians who are not able to be a part of the focus groups. NARI is also working on via a state-wide online survey (scheduled to be released in July/August 2019).
This information will be collated into a report to assist DHHS develop health policy that is informed by older people themselves.
If you are part of a community group with a member base of older people (aged 65 and over) and would be interested in hosting a focus group, please contact: Dr Jessica Cecil by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 8387 2301.
