Roundtable on research and CALD

NARI and the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) are organising a Roundtable into the needs of older people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds at Parliament House, Canberra on 10th March 2016.

The aim is to develop a research agenda; the service and research gaps for older people from CALD backgrounds are well documented, notably in the FECCA report A Review of Australian Research on People from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds.

The report recommended the importance to continue to grow the body of research about older people from CALD backgrounds; improve comparability of research results, datasets and data sources; increase participation by older people from CALD backgrounds in research; mine existing data sources for more information about older people from CALD backgrounds; and update available literature and resources about older CALD populations on a regular basis.

Following on from the Roundtable, NARI and FECCA will  gather feedback to develop a formal proposal for the research agenda.
