Congratulations to our President Associate Professor Michael Murray who was appointed a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for his service to geriatric medicine as a clinician and educator.
Associate Professor Murray has enjoyed a long career in geriatric research, education, service development, public policy and the aged care sector.
Earlier this year, he was appointed as the interim Chief Clinical Advisor to the new Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, working with the Commissioner Janet Anderson to get the new regulatory body up and running ahead of the appointment of Dr Melanie Wroth as chief clinical advisor in April.
On the announcement of his honour, Associate Professor Murray said that his work with NARI was among the most rewarding experiences of his career. He said it appeared that research into ageing was beginning to come into its own.
