Annual seminar: Friday 7 October 2016

NARI’s flagship seminar will be held on Friday 7 October at Australian Unity in Melbourne.

Forty years of research on ageing: where to next? will bring together some of Australia’s leading ageing researchers to reflect on the advances that NARI has made for older people over the past four decades.

Assessment and Care Planning

This interactive one-day workshop provides aged care professionals with practical information in relation to comprehensive assessment, goal setting and care planning for older people in a community setting.

Participants will gain effective strategies in person-centred practice, health literacy and cultural safety, learn the fundamentals and complexities of assessment and how to undertake goal directed care planning – setting goals and developing care plans.

Advanced Topics in Falls Prevention

Thursday 9th June 2016, 8.45am - 4.30pm

This workshop will give you the opportunity to expand your knowledge, share your experiences in falls prevention and provide you with the latest evidence to help you improve the care you deliver.

Participants will learn how to identify the nature and impact of the problem of falls in older people, understand the relationship between a number of risk factors (cognition and gait and balance, alcohol, vision, and feet and footwear) and how they impact on falls, understand the issue of fear of falling and its impacts on older people and how to identify tools to assess fear of falling.
