Research Fellow

Maya is a Research Fellow at NARI, working on the Covid-19 Health and Wellbeing Study and on a systematic review of measures of functional decline for older people in hospital, as part of the DHHS team. She is a registered physiotherapist with broad experience in musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation in a variety of settings. She has a special interest in healthy ageing, physical activity, falls prevention and balance training. Previous research also includes measurement of muscle atrophy and body composition after spinal cord injury, functional electrical stimulation cycling, non-invasive cranial nerve neuromodulation (AKA translingual neurostimulation) and gait and balance assessment using wearable inertial sensors.
