The Decade of Healthy Ageing: 2021-2030

What does it mean for you?

Professor John Beard, ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research, University of New South Wales

The United Nations has adopted 2021-2030 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing. The Decade has four themes:

  • Changing the way we think feel and act about ageing
  • Building communities that foster the abilities of older people
  • Delivering person-centred integrated care and primary health services responsive to older people
  • Providing access to long-term care for older people who need it.

On Tuesday 9th March 2021, Professor John Beard from ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research and University of New South Wales explained the Decade's background and underlying concepts, and the potential it offers countries around the world for improving the lives of people as they age.

The NARI Director’s Lecture Series is a free online public lecture series with leading Australian and international experts in ageing research.

This event, the first in our 2021 series, was held on Tuesday, 9th March from 6:00-7:00pm (AEST) and the recording is available to view upon request.
